TuffStuff Outfits 2018 Olympia Backstage Pump-up Room
The 2018 Mr. Olympia contest was historic. Shawn Rhoden caused one of the biggest upsets in bodybuilding history, defeating the 7-time defending champion, Phil Heath.
On Wednesday, September 12th, the TuffStuff Team, headed by Michael Loch (Western Region Sales Manager) and Fred Bixby (Eastern Regional Sales Manager from Chicago) travelled to Las Vegas to help outfit the 2018 Mr. Olympia backstage pump up room at the Orleans Hotel & Casino. Afterwards they set up the TuffStuff Booth at the Mr. Olympia Expo at the Las Vegas Convention Center. Both events, a 2-day affair, started on Friday, the 14th.
Energycare, a German company with a revolutionary Drink Station for gyms, shared the booth with TuffStuff, to introduce its unique product and service to the American health club and gym market. Co-founders Thomas Trugge and Daniel Hill were on hand to answer questions, demonstrate their product, and served countless cups of a variety of delicious, thirst-quenching fresh drinks.
TuffStuff supplied a Lat / Low Row Combo Machine, Evolution Half Cage, Multi-Purpose Benches, Dumbbells and free weight racks. Bodybuilders and athletes from all events (Mr. Olympia, Figure Olympia, Bikini Olympia, etc.) used the equipment backstage before heading out to compete.
During the event, TuffStuff showcased the latest XPT-900 Sport, the fitness industry’s first and only self-spotting free-weight training system allowing vertical, horizontal, diagonal, lateral and rotational bar movement. The innovative cage was a huge hit, with dozens of attendees and professional body builders lining up to demo the equipment. Many home gym and commercial gym owners inquired about the XPT Power Cage. The idea of safely training to failure without a spotter was appealing to all users.
TuffStuff also showcased commercial equipment from the Bio-Arc strength series. The Bio-Arc Chest Press and Leg Extension were both wildly popular. At first glance, attendees thought the machines were ordinary selectorized pieces of strength equipment. However, after trying the Bio-Arc equipment, and feeling the linear arc trajectory and biomechanics of the machines, smiles and questions quickly followed. Bodybuilders are the hardest group of athletes to please, and the harshest critics when it comes to strength training equipment. They demand bio-mechanically correct function and form, and they know whether a product delivers what it claims to do, or not. For this reason, TuffStuff caters its products to the bodybuilder community and takes their suggestions and recommendations seriously when developing products.
TuffStuff was honored to be asked, for the tenth consecutive year, to be the exclusive supplier of strength equipment for Joe Weider’s 2018 Olympia Fitness & Performance Weekend. We take pride in developing the highest quality strength equipment, and seeing the strongest bodybuilders and most talented fitness athletes in the world use our products is very rewarding.
